THE 431ST INAUGURAL LECTURE IN THE UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN
BY PROFESSOR A.A ADEDAPO: Silencing the Silent Killers

The most remarkable event took place on the 14th of June, 2018 in Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan as the University hosts the inaugural lecture of Professor A A Adedapo, of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ibadan. A very large audience graced the occasion including all the principal officers of the Premier University, many great lecturers from both within and outside the university, well-wishers, students, and the University community in general as they all waited patiently to decipher the sagacious topic of the event: Silencing the Silent Killers.
After the biography of the event’s lecturer was read by the chairman of the occasion and the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka, the lecturer relieved the audience of their anticipation as he delivered his lecture. He stated that silent killers are very dangerous and they can linger with the host species undetected for a long time before eventually exterminating the animal. He stated that anaemia, cancer, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, etc are the silent killers and one of the most effective way of silencing them is by the use of herbal products and vegetables(herbal veterinary medicine). He encouraged everyone to incorporate herbs and vegetables to their normal diets as this is an easy, cheap and effective way of combating these silent killers. He advised that his colleagues who are waiting for their promotion should be constantly checked for a silent killer, hypertension, by constant checking of their blood pressure. He ended by acknowledging many people, organizations and his family that have been of immense help along his academic carrier and concluded by thanking God, the Supreme Being.
