INTERVIEW WITH THE DOG SHOW CHAIRMAN

AN INTERVIEW WITH THE DOG SHOW 2018 CHAIRMAN.

C: Good day, nice to have you here Mr Chairman. The dog show seems to be the biggest thing on campus and the good part is that the Association of Veterinary Medical Students are the ones organizing it.
First and foremost, let's meet the DOG SHOW CHAIRMAN.

DSC: My name is Oladipo Samuel Oluwagbemiga

From Oyo State

C: Looking at the dog show, is it going to be different from other and previous dog shows? If yes, how?

DSC: yes, we will be having more pure breeds of dogs, prizes will be won per category of dogs amongst others. The fliers speaks more about it.

C: Many students surprisingly, one week to the event haven't even heard about the dog show yet. Is something wrong with the publicity?  As many have expressed oblivion to the event probably due to a weak publicity.

DSC: Many students in Vet or outside Vet? I am sure every faculty president in UI is publicizing and selling raffle tickets, publicity has gone viral on almost all social media platforms, and rally was done outside school to solidify the already established sensitization. But for publicity, I believe all students of the AVMS UI should be involved as this is our program, it's majorly to increase the value of dogs in our community which will improve every value chain attached to dogs in which we as students will graduate to fill into. So I expect AVMS UI at large, VNO and every press organizations to help in the publicity of this year’s dog show.

C: The dog show rally which held on the 19th of October, 2018 was said to have focused on the non-Uite audience. Are we expecting more outsiders in this event? And how is publicity going in the various halls of residence and the university at large?

DSC: yes, rally was done outside to sensitize more outsiders to come with their dogs or come to know why they need a dog and for the halls, we've worked with jingles, handbills and posters also not forgetting the social media just to make sure we get maximum audience within the school as well.

C: Looking at the theme this year, what inspired"the agents of shield"? Are we having captain America on? *laughs*

DSC: *laughs* the concept was to get a short statement to explain the importance of dogs and also to captivate the people leaving them to anticipate the reason behind the theme.
Anyways here's why we tagged it "Agents of Shield”
1. A dog shields from loneliness as a pet.
2. It shields from crime as security.
So that's the concept behind it

C: Dog shows in the previous years have always happened in the dry season. Thinking of the hot weather, what provisions are there this year as to the weather that weren't made last year?

DSC: a lot has been put in place concerning the weather as there would be special tents put in place for the dogs and their owners to shield them from the burning sun.

C: What's for grabs for dog owners who come to compete? What side attractions and offers are there for them?

DSC: there's more opportunities and prizes for dogs to win as prizes will be won per category. Every registered dog, whether wins or not goes home with at least a prize. Side attractions are red carpet available with a free picture and free blood testing

C: Just before the last, here's a question on raffle draw. What prizes are to be won? and how is ticket sales going?

DSC: prizes to be won are Boerboel and German shepherd puppies, standing fan, pressing iron, electric cooker etc

C: Rounding off, what's your word to dog lovers and enthusiasts who look forward to the show?

DSC: AVMS UI dog show is the best in Ibadan, giving value to everyone participating. We will be having more of pure breeds on ground, come and improve your knowledge on what the breed of your dog should look like. Tell as much as those you can tell, I promise they will not regret it.
