Interview

VNO: Hello sir, can we meet you?

Dr. Adetoye: My name is Temitope Adewale Adetoye.

VNO: Briefly tell us about you
Dr. Adetoye: I'm a 37 year old man from Modakeke in Osun state, Nigeria. An alumnus of the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.

VNO: How did you find your way to vet?
Dr. Adetoye: Professor Oyewale of Veterinary Physiology motivated me to secure admission into vet because I couldn't meet up with the bench mark for Medicine.

VNO: Do you like veterinary medicine?
Dr. Adetoye: Very well! I will practice the profession till I die!

VNO: We heard you recently got inducted into human medical profession, why did you aspire for MBBS after being a vet?
Dr. Adetoye: For the purpose of fulfillment, one of the strongest words in my dictionary.

VNO: Did you try to leave vet during your undergraduate years?
Dr. Adetoye: Sure I did. I was even admitted into Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) for MBBS at certain time during the course of my DVM training (400L second semester specifically) but I just had to come back and complete the DVM programme as I had already gone far with great interest in the profession.

VNO: Which of your degrees do you plan to use in your career (DVM or MBBS)?
Dr. Adetoye: The two, simultaneously.

VNO: What would you say about veterinary practice in Nigeria?
Dr. Adetoye: Hmm ... For those who have access to initial capital to start the practice independently, it's a gold mine, but for those who have no such advantage, it could be a bit difficult to break even.

VNO: What is your advice for vet students that are eager to leave the DVM programme for other courses?
Dr. Adetoye: They should clearly define their goal early enough and be ready to pay the price.

VNO: What is your philosophy about life?
Dr. Adetoye: The only obstacle to your dream is self!
