AVMS UI SETS TO HOLD 20TH DOG SHOW


Association of Veterinary Medical Students, University of Ibadan (AVMS UI) has started plans towards its annual Dog Show, which is set to hold on the 30th of November, 2019. The chairman of the 20th Dog Show Committee, Mr.

Lawal Harmony, presented the budget of the programme to the Senate Chamber of the association at the senate sitting held on Friday, 15th November, 2019 and a sum of #600,000 was approved for of the Dog Show Committee.
For some weeks now, the organizers of the Dog Show have been releasing many infographics, social media broadcasts and jingles to increase the awareness of the general public for the prospective show which will be held at the Cricket Pavilion, Student Union Building (SUB), University of Ibadan. In addition, many stakeholders have invaded the faculty and the university environment to sell raffle tickets, persuading their customers they have many fantastic prizes to win. According to a member of the Dog Show Organizing Committee, radio jingles will also be undertaken in order to promote the programme. “Dog Show is an event where the general public gets to appreciate the beauty of the veterinary profession, different breeds of dogs are brought to showcase their talents to the world. People will get to know and see that animals are also brilliant; they have all reasons to be cared for, just like humans. By virtue of the Dog Show, we aim to promote the values and welfare of animals,” a source revealed. The source continued, “we urge dog owners from different areas to bring their dogs, to allow the world see the beauty associated with owning a dog and to prove to the world that they are harboring wonderful creatures that have much to offer.”

VET JAW WARRIORS CONQUER PHARMACY, LAUNCH INTO THE QUARTER FINALS

As promised by the Association of Veterinary Medical Students Literary and Debating Society (AVMS L&D), University of Ibadan, the vet jaw warriors actually used the pharmacists’ drugs against them, euthanizing their existence out of the 2019 Jar War with a whooping point gap of 3.33. The speakers representing veterinary medicine, Olaoluwa Ola-Williams and Aweda Bolaji, proved to the University community and the world that vets do more than reading when they jaw-tussled with student pharmacists on November 14th, 2019 at the New Science Lecture Theatre for a position in the quarter finals of the competition.
Arguing on the topic “should Nigerian prisons be privatized?” they proved to everyone that Nigerian prisons has to be privatized. Vet students were obviously proud after the Thursday success with many taking to their social media pages to congratulate and encourage the Literary and Dedating Society to keep the ball rolling.
The President of Literary and Debating Society, Adeoye Oluwatoyin, released a message on the AVMS UI Whatsapp group page, appreciating members of the association for their support and mass appearance at the competition. She then beseeched them for their continual support till the trophy comes home to the faculty. “Together, we definitely can,” Oluwatoyin affirmed.
