SPORT: Join the Game: Veterinary Students Invited to Embrace Sports and Victory

Veterinary medical students often find it challenging to prioritize sports due to their demanding academic schedules, which typically stretches from 8am to 5pm. However, it is crucial to recognize that sports play a significant role not only in maintaining physical fitness but also in enhancing mental well-being.

Recently, our correspondent had the opportunity to meet with the Sports secretary of the faculty, Mr. Osungbade Ridwan (Orodin), who shared insights into the significance of engaging in sport and exciting sports activities planned for this semester.

Orodin emphasized the profound impact of sports on both physical and mental health. He said 'Engaging in sports provides a valuable avenue for students to exercise their bodies, shed excess weight, and sharpen their cognitive abilities.'

He stressed the importance of carving out time from busy schedules to participate in training sessions for upcoming tournaments. According to Mr. Osungbade, "Winning in sports brings a sense of accomplishment, but it requires proper training and wholehearted participation. Let's come together and actively contribute to our winning journey."

This semester promises an array of thrilling tournaments and matches. Among the highlights are "Freshers vs. Staylites," "Upper Vet vs. Lower Vet," the "University of Ibadan Seal Cup," the "University of Ibadan Super Cup," and an exhilarating "Lecturers vs. Students" showdown. Additionally, there are engaging competitions tailored specifically for women, including "UIAVMS vs. UIMSA" and numerous friendly games for both men and women.

It is imperative for veterinary medical students to recognize the importance of incorporating sports into their lives. Not only does it enhance physical fitness, but it also nurtures mental well-being. So, let's seize the opportunity to engage in these exciting sports activities and be part of our journey towards victory.
