FEATURES: World Animal Welfare Day 2023: Big or Small, Love Them All

Every 4th of October, the world unites in celebration of World Animal Welfare Day. Just as last year's theme, "A Shared Planet," aimed to remind us of our shared responsibility, this year's theme is equally inspiring: "Big or Small, Love Them All."

This theme emphasizes the fundamental idea that there should be no discrimination in how we treat animals, regardless of their size. From lab rats to cats, dogs, small ruminants, and elephants, every creature deserves our love, support, and care.

Let us pledge to provide them with the care they rightfully deserve, ensuring they enjoy the Five Freedoms of Animal Welfare: freedom from hunger and thirst, freedom from discomfort, freedom from pain, injury, or disease, freedom to express normal behaviour, and freedom from fear and distress.

In conclusion, the Veterinary News Organization (VNO) wholeheartedly urges us all to unite and join hands with fellow animal lovers worldwide to champion the cause of animal welfare, freedom, and rights, without prejudice to their size. Always remember, whether big or small, our love knows no bounds.
