NEWS: VNO Organizes a Journalism Workshop




The Veterinary News Organisation organized a day journalism workshop themed 'From Pen to Press' for both its members and prospective members on February 3, 2024, at the 400L classroom.

In his opening remarks, the Editor-in-Chief, Eyinade Sulaimon, stressed the significance of the program to expose participants to the essentials of news writing and journalistic articles. He also expressed his gratitude to the speakers for accepting the invitation.

The first speaker, Mojeed Ajibola, Editor-in-Chief of Adhikr Press, discussed the Elements of Journalistic Articles, emphasizing the role of campus journalists and highlighting successful figures like Kunle Adebajo, Fisayo Soyombo, and Kabiru Adeyemo, who didn't study Journalism-related courses but excelled in journalism.

Ajibola defined journalism, outlined journalist's responsibilities, and elaborated on the traditions and attributes of journalistic articles.

The second speaker, Tijani AbdulKabir, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of UCJ, focused on the Ingredients of News Reporting and Article Writing. He detailed the attributes essential for a great journalist and guided attendees through the process of news reporting and writing.

AbdulKabir concluded by urging members to approach their assignments diligently to prepare themselves for future journalistic roles.

The program concluded around 1 pm, with the Editor-in-Chief encouraging attendees to put their newfound knowledge into practice.
