SENATORIAL BY-ELECTIONS

Today, 28th June, 2024, senatorial by-elections were held into vacant senatorial seats across the DVM classes. The election which was necessitated by unfilled slots in the senatorial quota caused by resignation of certain members and apathy to some extent.

By-election is an election held to fill an office that has become vacant between general elections. The elections which held virtually, lasted around 1 hour.

The Senate arm of the association is charged with the responsibility of reviewing activities of the executive council, deliberate and deal with emergency matters relating to the association. 

According to SECTION IV, Sub-section 1A&B of the constitution guiding the association, the senate arm shall consist of 20 members and each DVM level shall be represented by 4 elected representatives.

The acting chairman of IVMSEC, Emmanuel Adedokun this afternoon across groups announced the results of the exercise.

“Having certified the simple majority votes in the Senatorial by-election, the following are declared Senator-elect for the 2023/2024 academic session:”.
