Solidarity forever!
Solidarity forever!!
Fees must fall!!!
These and many more are the song on the lips of students of the University of Ibadan at the moment as they protest the decisions and polices of the University management.
Aluta sounds echoing, placards flashed about, students dressed like secret agents and ninjas undergoing martial arts training, vehicles grounded. This is the current state of the University of Ibadan.
The protest train which started around Zik/Indy axis has since moved to the administrative block and across the campus and are currently converged at the University main gate.
The protest is in response to the animous decision made by the school management to ration electricity supply to hostels and other areas of the campus.
Remember, the school management is under scrutiny for massive increase in school fees with unrealistic deadline set and also decay in infrastructural facilities.
At the moment, protesters have blocked the school entrance barring vehicular movement in and outside of the University.
Leading the charge, the SU president, Aweda Bolaji calls on the school management to address the plight of students.
Also, classes and other activities are grounded at the moment. But, unconfirmed report admits classes are holding in some parts of the campus.
Stay tuned...
