The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine's management, including the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Olufunke Ola-Davies, Faculty Officer Mrs. Oluwatoyin Dibosa, and other staff members, visited the University central mosque on August 2, 2024, immediately after the Jum'ah service.
The purpose of the visit was to thank God for a successful anniversary and to show gratitude to Allah. In her speech, the Dean said, "We are very grateful, we thank God, and I look forward to a deeper relationship with the Muslim community."
The Chief Imam thanked the leadership of the faculty for their support and prayed that Allah continues to be with both the Dean and the staff. "Allah, who has sufficed the faculty for the past 60 years and helped you as the Dean, will never abandon you. May He make you, your staff, and your students prosper."
The Chief Imam of the University of Ibadan, represented by his deputy, Professor I.O. Uthman, however requested that the management reschedule the induction ceremony, typically held on Fridays, to another day of the week.
"The management should consider moving the induction event from Friday to another day to allow full participation by Muslims, not only in the event but also in their religious duty, the Jum'ah service," said the Chief Imam.
Also present at the visit were Veterinary Muslim students and some UIMC executives.
The 2023 and 2024 inductions were held on Fridays, July 28 and August 2, respectively.
