Today, 2nd August, 2024, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine held her 53rd Induction and oath-taking ceremony for the graduating class of 2022/2023 academic session. This event which is the part of the commemoration of the Faculty's anniversary saw 90 new doctors inducted into the Veterinary profession.
Dignitaries at the event include the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan ably represented by the DVC, Administration, Professor Peter Olapegba; Dean, Prof Ola Davies; Chairman of the day, Dr. Musa Alasa, CEO, Adamore; Lecturer of the event, Dr. Adebanji Adeniyi; Father of the Day, Senator Rasidi Ladoja ably represented; Mother of the day, Dame Olufunmilayo Agbato; the Honourable commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development in Oyo State, Barr. Olasunkami Olaleye; senior professors and representatives of the NVMA.
Addressing the inductees, the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Olofunke Ola-Davies, urged them to uphold the values of the faculty and be exemplary ambassadors in their future careers.
The president of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria, Dr. Abubakar Baju who joined the event virtually congratulated the faculty and the inductees on this great occasion. She reiterated the commitment of VCN to ensuring the value of the Veterinary profession is upheld through creating diverse job and networking opportunities for the students to thrive in across the country.
Speaking on behalf of the VC, Professor Olapegba commended the Dean for a job well done so far and applauded the Faculty for consistently contributing the brilliance UI is known for.
He urged the students to be worthy ambassadors of the Faculty and the University and to never forget them as their source wherever they find themselves in life.
The acting registrar of VCN, Dr. Fadipe administered the oath on the students and wish you them well in their future endeavors.
The guest lecturer, Dr. Adebanji Adeniyi, an Executive Director at GTBank, highlighted a 13 points nuggets for the new doctors emphasizing the need to be embrace their uniqueness and approach the future optimistically.
The overall best graduating student, Gbore Damilola was awarded a sum of #100,000 for his academic excellence with the second and third getting #40,000 and #20,000 respectively.

Best in Surgery- Dr Bello Olaoluwa(#100,000)
Best in Pathology and Medicine (#100,000)
Best in Theriogeniology awarded by the family of Prof. Akokoje - Oyatoye Aishat
The guest lecturer also gave the three best students cash price award in honour of "Beatrice Oluremi Aduke". They received #200,000, #100,000, #50,000 respectively.
The mother of the day, Dame Agbato gave the best graduating student a cash price of #250,000 in honour of "Dr. Oladele Agbato" and #100,000 to an indigent student in the class.
The alumni body also awarded the best graduating student with a cash price of #100,000.
The Outlier award which aims to honour a student with exemplary leadership capacity skills went to Dr. Deborah Oladeji. She received a cash prize of #100,000 and a one month paid internship at Farmalert.
The representative of the class, Dr. Taofeek expressed gratitude to their lectures for imparting them with knowledge and their parents for their supports throughout the journey. He congratulated his classmates and beseeched them to continue to hold their heads up and be worthy ambassadors of the profession.
He also went home with a sum of #100,000.
