The Dove-Haven Foundation, founded by Dr. Ekundayo, a lecturer in the department of Veterinary Biochemistry recently celebrated its 5th anniversary with series of events spanning three days. The highlight of the celebration was the quiz competition on cancer. The quiz, themed "Health System Challenges: A case study of cancer burden in Nigeria" and held in collaboration with the TLDS drew participants from various faculties. It began on August 6th, 2024, with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine represented by Miss Karen Harvie, a DVM IV student, and Obembe Ayomide, a DVM V student. In the first round, the team faced off against the Faculty of Pharmacy, winning by a narrow margin of two points.
A total of eight faculties advanced to the semi-finals: Law, Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, Renewable Natural Resources, Environmental Design and Management, Basic Medical Sciences, Technology, and Economics.
The semi-finals, held on August 7th, saw the faculty represented by Eze Joseph and Akande Dotun, both DVM IV students. Three faculties—Agriculture, Law, and Economics ended up tied with the same points. In the tiebreaker round, the Faculty of Agriculture emerged victorious, joining the top three faculties in the finals.
The final round, held in the faculty auditorium later that day, featured another strong performance by Eze Joseph and Akande Dotun. They answered all their questions correctly, securing the win for the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The victory earned them a cash prize of 50,000 Naira, along with a plaque. The first runner-up received 30,000 Naira, while the second runner-up was awarded 20,000 Naira. In addition, the winning faculty received an extra 20,000 Naira.
The Faculty of Agriculture was the second runner-up, with representatives Grace Kayode and Ololade Sadiq. The Faculty of Renewable Natural Resources secured the first runner-up position, represented by Olatunbosun Balkis and Marvelous Omotosho.
