Faculty Of Veterinary Medicine Inducts 63 into the Veterinary Profession

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine held its 54th Induction Ceremony on Tuesday, June 3, formally welcoming 63 graduands into the noble profession of veterinary medicine.

The event took place at the Faculty Auditorium and was graced by numerous dignitaries, proud parents, and the new inductees.

Among the distinguished guests were the Aare Gbo-Gbo of Remoland and President of the Kotko Group, Dr. Kola Oyefeso; President of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria, Prof. Matthew Adamu; Acting Registrar of VCN, Dr. Dotun Fadipe; Chairman of Noble FM Ibadan, Prince Adekanbi; and many others. The Guest of honour for the occasion was Alhaja Adesina Aminat, CEO of AMSA Vet Services Limited.

Also present were representatives of the University’s management, including the Vice Chancellor (represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academics), the University Registrar, as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Sub-deans, and faculty lecturers.

Following the oath-taking ceremony administered by the Ag. Registrar, the graduands were honored with awards for excellence and leadership.

Dr. Favour Ajibade emerged the Overall Best Graduating Student of the class dubbed “Magnus Vetmily”. He was closely followed by Dr. Okewale Toheeb, Dr. Oladiran Deborah, and Dr. Adeyemi Oluwaseyi, who were named Second and joint Third, respectively.


Dr. Adedigba Sharon recieved the Prof. Lekan Oyejide prize for Best in Veterinary Surgery and Theriogenology, receiving a $500 cash prize. Dr. Oladiran Ibukun claimed the award for Best in Veterinary Public Health & Preventive Medicine, while Dr. Babalola Deborah clinched the award for the Best In Veterinary Medicine with both winning the sum of $250



Other awards for academic excellence were also presented. Cyriacus Fortunate, a 500-level student, received the Prof. Lekan Oyejide award for Best in Veterinary Pathology, Parasitology and Microbiology, along with a $1000 cash prize. Jimoh Uthman Olatunji, recognized as Best in Veterinary Physiology and Anatomy, was awarded $500. Dr. Favour Ajibade also received a $500 cash prize for his outstanding overall performance.




Delivering the induction lecture, Prof. Ayenuyo urged the new veterinary doctors to be proud of their achievement, emphasizing that their degrees were earned through diligence and dedication.

"You did not fabricate your Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree," he said. "You earned it through hard work."

In her remarks, the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Olufunke E. Ola -Davies, expressed heartfelt appreciation to faculty members and guests for their unwavering support. She described it an honor to have served the faculty in her current capacity.

Speaking on behalf of the Magnus Vetmily, the global veterinary student of the year, Dr. Ahmed Saheed congratulated his colleagues for completing their journey. He expressed appreciation to parents and teachers for their support and instilling the right knowledge required to thrive in the profession.

The ceremony concluded with the singing of the national and school anthems.
