The Association of Veterinary Medical Students(AVMSUI) yesterday held her annual dog show, attracting students, lecturers, and dog owners and breeders from across the state.
The event, in partnership with the Canine Owners and Breeders Association (COBA), the Animal Welfare Club, and Sigma Club, was held at the old SUB pitch.
The Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. B. O Olugasa and Sub-Dean Undergraduate, Dr. Olayinka Anifowose was among the dignitaries in attendance, alongside lecturers, and the council of faculty presidents.
The show featured canine displays, ranging from obedience demonstrations to playful interactions, while also serving as a platform for education on responsible pet ownership, vaccination, and nutrition.
At the end of the show, Flames, a Lhasa Apso emerged overall winner, with Akanji, a pug and Rex, a Boerbel coming 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The raffle draw added excitement to the day, with prizes that included food items, a package from AgroKonsult, and a MacBook laptop. The grand prize — a puppy - was won by Minini, a DVM II student.
