The University of Ibadan Senate has released a proposed revised academic calendar for the 2024/2025 session following the disruption caused by the ASUU strike. The strike, which halted activities during the 8th week of the ongoing second semester, has led to a compressed schedule that now officially extends examination periods into the festive holidays for students.
According to the document, the 13-week period for teaching and revision will now conclude on Friday, November 21, 2025. Immediately after, students will sit for GES Examinations from Monday, November 24, to Friday, November 28, 2025 and general examinations running till 31st December.
The decision has sparked mixed concerns among students across the university, who now face the reality of sacrificing long-held holiday plans for an intense period of examinations.
The Senate has also scheduled the start of the 2025/2026 academic session for Monday, March 9, 2026.
