Heading to the Polls: IVMSEC Chairman Assures Students of a Secure and Transparent Election

Today, students of the faculty head to the polls to elect their new student leaders. The air is filled with anticipation. To clarify the process and address concerns about the integrity of the vote, our press team sat down with the IVMSEC Chairman, Moses Ayobami Adeosun.

Here are his responses to some questions on student's mind.

Q: Can we meet you, sir?

A: I am Moses Ayobami Adeosun, a member of DVM V, and I am the current IVMSEC chairman.

Q: What voting method are we expecting for the elections today?

A: We will be having a hybrid system like the senatorial election, where voting is done at a physical location but using the Google form platform on laptops. The difference from the senatorial election is that the physical points of voting are at the Faculty and another centre at PLT, unlike the senatorial election that is in each class.

Q: What time, exactly, will the polls open and close? Will this timing be strictly adhered to?

A: The polls will be opened from 11 am - 3 pm, and there will be a memo released to that effect, and it will be adhered to.

Q: How can we be assured that the voting process will be secure and transparent?

A: The mode of election ensures that results or responses can't be edited by just any persons, and there won't be the possibility of misplaced ballot paper nor wrong voting.

Q: What are the specific "Dos and Don'ts" for candidates, their agents, and all students at the polling area today?

A: The major don'ts will be not to campaign and not to cause any disorderliness. People should just vote and go back.

Q: What is the official and most immediate channel for students to report any observed malpractice today?

A: Complaints should be sent to me. The aspirants also have a group and they can send their complaints therein or to the senate if it is after the election.

With the polls officially open from 11 am to 3 pm, the electoral committee has laid out the procedures for a smooth process. As students go out to exercise their right to vote, the chairman's message is clear: participate peacefully, avoid any form of campaigning at the polling areas, and report any concerns immediately through the official channels.
